Just read a little blurb in the July 2001 issue of THE INDEPENDENT FILM AND VIDEO MONTHLY --
Apparently, a company called CINERIC is introducing a new optical printer for regular8 and Super8 blowups.
They're using a 16mm gate that's been modified for reg/Super8 to make 16mm and 35mm blowup negs from a positive print.
According the article, the process uses full-immersion wet gate technology supposedly allowing even damaged film to be copied in "near pristine" condition.
It goes on to say that the process is computerized... and like 16mm and 35mm, reg/Super8 is step-printed and pin-registered. The prices are: $2.45 per foot for 35mm blowups and $3.00 per foot for 16mm blowups.
Now you don't have to buy the mag...
